Installation Instructions - GAC
Replace GAC with Compression Fittings
Step 1 - Shut off the water supply. Step 2 - Unscrew the plastic nut on both sides of the filter.
Step 3 - Remove the plastic nut from the tubing by gripping the tubing and pulling hard on the plastic nut. If you have trouble removing the nut move on to step 4 and cut the tubing before the nut.
Step 4 - Cut the plastic tubing about 1 inch from the end to remove the scuffed part of the tubing caused by the compression nut. Use a tubing cutter if possible. You may also use a razor blade, but first determine which is your finger and which is the tubing and cut the tubing only! Also, make sure the cut is straight on the end of the tubing.
Step 5 - Remove the protective studs from the new GAC filter by pushing in the blue ring and pulling on the stud. Do this on both ends of the filter. NOTE: The blue ring must be pushed in to remove the protective stud or tubing. Just pulling on the stud/tubing alone will only make the seal tighter or damage the fitting.
Step 6 - Determine which tubing goes in which end by viewing the FLOW arrow on the filter. The tubing going OUT to the storage tank/faucet/ect. goes in the fitting coming STRAIGHT out of the filter. The tubing going IN from the water supply/RO/etc. goes in the fitting on a 90 degree angle.
Step 7 - Put the tubing in the 90 degree fitting first so you can flush the filter.
Step 8 - Push the tubing into fitting making sure it goes all the way in. Then pull back just slightly until it feels secure. It is now sealed and should not leak.
Step 9 - Run about 3-5 gallons of water through the filter before using. Simply turn on the water supply and run water into a separate container. Step 10 - Once the filter is flushed push the tubing in the other side of the filter as in Step 8.
Step 11 - Turn on the water supply. Check for leaks.
Installation for a Fridge or Ice Maker
Step 1 - Shut off the water supply. Step 2 - Locate the plastic tubing entering the fridge (usually in the back).
Step 3 - Cut the plastic tubing allowing enough room on both side to put the filter in between. Use a tubing cutter if possible. You may also use a razor blade, but first determine which is your finger and which is the tubing and cut the tubing only! Also, make sure the cut is straight on the end of the tubing.
Step 4 - Remove the protective studs from the new GAC filter by pushing in the blue ring and pulling on the stud. Do this on both ends of the filter. NOTE: The blue ring must be pushed in to remove the protective stud or tubing. Just pulling on the stud/tubing alone will only make the seal tighter or damage the fitting.
